A: You didn’t show up for dinner last night. Robert was a little upset.
B: I know. I’m awfully sorry.
A: Why didn’t you let him know you weren’t coming?
B: I couldn’t help it. My girlfriend had an accident and was taken to the hospital.
A: Oh, that’s terrible. Is she OK?
B: She wasn’t hurt badly, but she was shaken up.
